The Funerary Stele from Yunus (Karkemish) was discovered during the construction of a new road along the southern side of the main mound of the Yunus cemetery, reused in a Roman chamber tomb. This basalt stele measures 107 cm inheight, 64.5 cm in width, and 37.5 cm in thicknes. It is partialy damaged. The late Hittite - Luwian inscription dates back to the eight century BC. It commemorates two person - Tasa and Sarpuwani.
This stele (is) of Tasa and Sarpuwani, interpreters
(and) for them, they set up this stele for goodness.
